In close contests, trends, momentum and what is happening at the top of the ticket all matter considerably. This once close contest only twice showed Abrams within the margin of error to tie Kemp. Since 2016, as Georgia Democrats surged into majorities again across the core counties in metro Atlanta, more ballots were cast in advance of Election Day. Democrats have won advance voting and absentee voting by healthy margins since, and during 2016, 2018 and 2020, more ballots were cast prior to Election Day than on Election Day. The GOP in each case, won the votes on Election Day.

Dunwoody keeps playoff hopes alive, seven DeKalb teams win games -

Dunwoody High School defeated South Cobb High School 38-24 on Oct. 21 to keep the Dunwoody Wildcats’ playoff hopes alive. Dunwoody quarterback Porter LeDoyen scored four touchdowns to lead the Wildcats to victory at North DeKalb Stadium; the win keeps Dunwoody in third place in region 4-6A. A four-yard touchdown run from Brown on fourth and goal with 1:41 left in the third quarter cut the lead to 23-17. 3 ranked Sandy Creek at Sandy Creek on Oct. 21. Sandy Creek jumped to a 12-0 lead before the Saints got on track to go up 21-12 on the arm of Colson.

Health officials warn residents to not skip flu vaccination -

DeKalb County Board of Health officials are urging residents to be vaccinated against the flu as “flu activity is already widespread in Georgia.”“If you have not gotten a flu shot yet, do not wait any longer,” said DeKalb County Board of Health (BOH) officials in a statement released Oct. 19. “Some people are at higher risk of developing serious flu-related complications if they get sick,” stated officials. The first employee vaccination incentive earlier this year resulted in approximately 67 percent of county employees being fully vaccinated, stated officials. “Flu vaccine can be administered at the same time as COVID vaccine, so it’s a good time to get your updated booster, too,” stated BOH officials. Flu shots are available at public health departments, doctors’ offices, grocery stores, as well as neighborhood clinics and pharmacies.

Clare company appeals for let-off from State’s ‘latte levy’

Cup Print has joined the Irish paper packaging industry in urging Minister of State Ossian Smyth to exempt certified recyclable and certified compostable products with established waste collection streams from the forthcoming levy on cups for hot drinks. The latte levy, proposed in the Circular Economy Act which was adopted in July 2022, is expected to be introduced early next year with a levy of 20c on cups for hot drinks. Cup Print supplies cafes and retailers across the country with custom-branded coffee cups, specialising in both certified compostable and certified recyclable paper cups. “Many of Cup Print’s customers have taken significant steps to source certified compostable and recyclable products, and the announcement of a public consultation to advance the latte levy is another blow to them during an exceptionally difficult time.

Part of what gives King Cons such great vibes is also the quality of the service its staff provides; everyone we spoke to was extremely friendly. My boyfriend had the ‘hot hot hot’ chicken burger. True to its name, it was indeed ‘hot hot hot’. They say to live like a king, you have to work like a dog – I’d say a trip to King Cons will definitely leave you feeling like a king.
