Democrats are basking in having displayed remarkable unity, with every one of their members backing party leader Hakeem Jeffries for the House speakership again and again and again. President Joe Biden, meanwhile, was viewed skeptically enough that some of his fellow Democrats questioned the wisdom of him seeking reelection. Speculation about Biden's political future has quieted after Democrats outperformed expectations during the November midterm elections. That unity is a shift for a Democratic Party built on fragile electoral coalitions that often begin to fray when it's time to govern. One progressive group isn't onboard, paying for a national cable TV spot and mobile billboard circulating between the White House and U.S. Capitol proclaiming, “Don't Run, Joe."

(Bloomberg) -- Giorgia Meloni was sworn in as Italy’s new prime minister to become the country’s first female leader heading its most right-wing government since World War II, after President Sergio Mattarella tasked her to form an administration. She will address both houses of parliament next week for a confidence vote that’ll confirm she holds a majority. Meloni has however been under pressure from ally Salvini and his party to spend more to help Italians cope.

The independent all-girls school organised the inaugural Rugby World Cup as part of its commitment to developing the game and increasing opportunities for women’s rugby locally. Oxford Mail:Schools including Wychwood School, St Helen and St Katharine, d’Overbroeck’s, Rye St Antony, The Oratory School, Didcot Girls’ School, SS Philip and James, and The Oratory Prep School fielded teams.
