INVESTMENT INDUSTRIESFor Jamaica, what are the investment industries that are being attracted to the old Caymanas Estate lands to enable the establishment of anticipated smart cities? Importantly, Higman writes that the historic Caymanas Estate lands are “… all located on the marshy coastal plain four miles east of Spanish Town …”. Green Acres is also attached to the Caymanas Estate parent title. This Green Acres scenario was averted for two separate two-storey buildings valued at $350 million for the Little London Police Station and the Frome Police Station.

SAO PAULO, Brazil (AP):When Brazil started playing Vinicius Jr and Raphinha on the flanks during World Cup qualifying, Neymar surprised his coach by praising his new attacking teammates. “They are relentless.”The 30-year-old Neymar is in great shape ahead of this year’s World Cup in Qatar, but Brazil doesn’t depend on him as much as four years ago. Neymar is expected to play behind the centre forward, no matter if that is Richarlison, Gabriel Jesus or Roberto Firmino. He has also suggested he won’t hesitate in replacing Neymar or Vinicius if he thinks they are not performing as well as the team needs. Neymar has also played that role for the national team, which would allow Lucas Paquetá or Philippe Coutinho to play in his position.

CWI launches new four-day series to culminate West Indies Championship

ST JOHN’S, Antigua (CMC):Next year’s West Indies Championship will again be contested over five rounds, starting February 1, and only Antigua, Grenada, and Trinidad will stage matches, Cricket West Indies announced today. To help compensate for the reduction of matches in the Championship, however, CWI will stage a three-team, red-ball tournament, akin to an all-star series, to be known as the Headley-Weekes Series. From November 2014 until the novel coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic forced the early end of the 2020 West Indies Championship season, the West Indies Championship was contested over 10 rounds between the six territorial franchise teams – Barbados Pride, Guyana Harpy Eagles, Jamaica Scorpions, Leeward Islands Hurricanes, Trinidad & Tobago Red Force and Windward Islands Volcanoes. The Headley-Weekes Series will feature three teams – Team Headley and Team Weekes – which will be selected from the best performers in the West Indies Championship and players outside the starting XI of the West Indies Test side – and a squad from the West Indies Academy currently encamped in a high-performance programme in Antigua. Barbados Pride are the defending champions of the West Indies Championship.

Earth Today | AOSIS bats for multilateral fund to support SIDS

THE ALLIANCE of Small Island States (AOSIS) is championing the creation of a multilateral fund to enable developing countries to afford the cost of responses to loss and damage associated with climate change. At the same time, the AOSIS has advanced its defence of the operation of the proposed fund as a UNFCCC operating entity of its Financial Mechanism. “The UNFCCC, as the international climate change regime, has a responsibility to contribute in the global response to climate change, which includes enhancing such support to developing countries on a cooperative and facilitative basis,” the briefing note said. “The UNFCCC Financial Mechanism and its operating entities, including this proposed multilateral fund, serve both the entire convention and the Paris Agreement. This multilateral fund would, therefore, be a crucial component of the Financial Mechanism to make it fit-for-purpose for this effective implementation,” it added.
