Parents 'heartbroken' as daughter, 3, given months to live after second cancer diagnosis

A Lincolnshire couple have been left heartbroken after receiving the news that their three-year-old daughter only has months to live. Having undergone 20 hours worth of surgery, Lily's cancer was removed and she was asked to take part in a clinical trial in Germany. Having beaten the cancer, Lily was asked to be part of a clinical trial to help figure out how best to treat this type of cancer in young children. This time round, sadly the cancer can't be treated and Lily has tragically been given just months to live. "I'm hoping, as well as giving her the best send off we can, this goes some way to raising awareness about Lily's cancer and shows how dangerous it is."

Lincolnshire Fire and Rescue issue warning after young boys die in Solihull lake tragedy

West Midlands Police confirmed on Monday that three boys aged eight, 10 and 11 died in hospital after they were rescued from a frozen lake at Babbs Mill Park in Solihull on the afternoon of Sunday, December 11. Danny Moss, area manager for prevention and protection at Lincolnshire Fire and Rescue, has issued this warning: "The tragic incident in Solihull shows just how dangerous open water can be. In the winter with freezing temperatures, we would urge people to please stay away from frozen lakes and ponds. “But as you can imagine the families are absolutely devastated, which is why we’re doing our very best to support the families. “One of my officers was trying to punch through the ice to actually rescue the children themselves.

A garden centre based at Belvoir Castle near Grantham is closing down after parking charges and fines "negatively impacted" on the business, putting customers, staff and suppliers in an "impossible situation". The Idle Mole, which is based at the Engine Yard, made the announcement on Facebook on December 9. The business stated: "It is with enormous sadness and regret that we have to announce the closure of The Idle Mole at the Engine Yard, Belvoir Castle. "We chose to be located at The Engine Yard in order to be part of a community of independent businesses in a prestigious and beautiful countryside setting. "We listened to what our visitors and tenants were telling us earlier this year and introduced free parking for all Engine Yard visitors from the beginning of August.
