Due to the pandemic, Outlander's sixth season had to be shortened but fans need not worry as Starz also announced an extended season seven, featuring sixteen episodes. Taking to social media, Sam also confirmed the news saying: "Season 8, the last and final season! The actor was inspired to write Waypoints as he walked the West Highland Way which is a 96 mile trek from Milngavie to Fort William. At the end of the 96 mile journey he also decided to take on the UK's biggest mountain, Ben Nevis. Fellow hiker Graham formed a quick friendship with Sam, joining him once again to be in the short film. Sam's book Waypoints: My Scottish Journey is available to buy from October 25.
