One Year Ago Today (January 23, 2022)…A group of community activists are calling on state officials to introduce a reward for information leading to the killer of a 16-year-old girl whose body was found dumped alongside the Harbor (110) Freeway. Rashida Kinsey described Tioni as a “vibrant young lady that was just cut from so much that was ahead of her,” according to ABC7. “It’s important that Governor Newsom and state elected officials realize that Tioni Theus’ life mattered,” he added. “Procedurally, the CHP is leading the investigation because the body was found on state property, so we have to work with state officials,” Ali said. Tioni, a young Black 16- year-old, straight A student and devoted daughter was gunned down and left on the side of the 110 freeway.

Singer, Songwriter & Rebel David Crosby Dies at 81

David Crosby, who came of age musically in Los Angeles’ 1960s folk music scene and went on to co-found the iconic bands the Byrds and later Crosby, Stills & Nash, has died at age 81, his wife announced Thursday. “It is with great sadness after a long illness, that our beloved David (Croz) Crosby has passed away,” his wife said in a statement to Variety. Thank you for the love and prayers.”Crosby, a guitarist, singer and songwriter, was with the Byrds from 1964 to 1967. He was tossed out of the band later that year after a series of disputes over song selection and the group’s musical direction. But just months later, Crosby met up with Stephen Stills — formerly of Buffalo Springfield — and the pair later teamed up with Graham Nash.

Rain Again Douses Southern California as Latest Storm Moves Through

Heavy rain continues to fall across Southern California again Tuesday as yet another storm system thundered over the region, creating high winds, flooding, landslides and hazardous marine and driving conditions. The powerful storm, expected to move through Los Angeles, Orange and other southern counties through Tuesday, dumped more than 10 inches of rain in some areas. About 3,500 customers, and over 1,200 in Fairfax, have been affected by power outages throughout Los Angeles County. The Los Angeles Department of Transportation implemented a road closure of Mulholland Drive between Laurel Canyon Boulevard and Coldwater Canyon Drive in anticipation of the storm activity. Orange County’s COVID Hospitalizations Surpass 200

The positivity rate for those fully vaccinated with a booster went from 8.1% on Nov. 13 to 9% on Nov. 20. For those not vaccinated the rate went from 7.9% to 11.9%. Just 5% of the county’s population in the age group is fully vaccinated. For 5- to 11-year-old children, 97,056 are fully vaccinated, about 36.6% of the age group. In the 12-to-17 age group, 69.8% are fully vaccinated.
