Alex Enumah in AbujaThe National Judicial Council (NJC) has recommended the appointment of nine Chief Judges and 84 other judicial officers. Others are Justice Abdulateef Kamaldeen as Grand Kadi, Kwara State, Justice Stanley Lawal, President, Customary Court of Appeal, FCT, Justice Monisola Abodunde as President, Customary Court of Appeal in Ekiti and Justice Uhuo Uchenna as President, Customary Court of Appeal, Ebonyi State. Zamfara High Court has four and they areAbdullahi Muhammad Gusau, Umar Adulnasir, Saad Garba Gurbin-Bore and Muntaka Ahmad Ya’akubu. In the same vein, Kaduna Customary Court of Appeal is to have three Judges and they areDorothy Sim Inwulale, Atung Dorcaas Tabitta and Yusuf Yakubu. The breakdown also showed that Plateau State Customary Court of Appeal has only one Judge nominee in person of Jettei T. Pekun.

IG, FCT Minister Ramp UP Security in Abuja Over Terror Threat – THISDAYLIVE

Minister of Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Malam Muhammad Bello, also held an emergency security meeting yesterday over the warning by the US embassy and others to their citizens about likely terrorist attacks in Abuja. The statement noted that the police would work with other security agencies to ensure safety of the citizenry, especially, in FCT. Sule said at the meeting, the minister charged security agencies to do all within their powers to protect FCT residents from being harmed by criminals and other unscrupulous elements, and urged FCT residents to remain calm as the security agencies were working assiduously to sustain the state of law in Abuja. The FCT administration said it had not ordered the closure of any school, and directed the schools that had closed to reopen forthwith. It appealed to residents to cooperate at all times with the security agencies by volunteering useful and timely information that would assist in nipping any form of criminality in the bud.

The report which was contained in its final report on the 2019 general election, the group said the number increased compared to the 106 killed in the 2015 general election. The scheme is powered by 500 health facilities both government and private health care facilities accredited to provide health services under the scheme. “We issue them with an identity card and with that they are able to refer them from an IDP camp to any of the public or private health care facilities for more care beyond what the camp can provide. Our strategy is to ensure that wherever you are in Delta you should be able to have access to quality health services. Aniagwu urged the media and members of the public to ask such protesters exactly where they worked before retirement, whether local, state or federal government level.

Towards the 2022 primaries, some of the governors decided to run for president but interestingly (and predictably) not all the governors supported their fellow governors. At the primaries however the governors remained major characters and even though none of the sitting governors won a presidential ticket, 2022 must be remembered as the year in which governors decided who ran for president and perhaps who will rule Nigeria come 2023. After the primaries, our governors continue to be relevant for various reasons that goes from understandable to ridiculous to bizarre. Real power in partisan politics lies in the hand of Director General (DG) of the campaign in an election year and since we are in the year of governors, it is worth noting here that the two major political parties have chosen governors to be their DG. The other parties don’t have governors in the fold so they can’t field governors if even they wanted to.
