• LAURA GOZZI and DAVIDE GHILIONEITALY's most-wanted Mafia boss, Matteo Messina Denaro, has been arrested in Sicily after 30 years on the run. He is alleged to be a boss of the notorious Cosa Nostra Mafia, and he was tried and sentenced to life in jail in absentia in 2002 over numerous murders. The mafia boss also oversaw racketeering, illegal waste dumping, money laundering and drug trafficking for the powerful Cosa Nostra organised crime syndicate. 'DIABOLIK'Clans nicknamed Messina Denaro 'Diabolik' – the name of an uncatchable thief in a comic book series – and 'U Siccu' (Skinny). Italy's president, Sergio Mattarella, whose brother Piersanti was killed by the Cosa Nostra in 1980, congratulated the minister of the interior and the Carabinieri.

Wanderers take decisive lead

Rashford stars as Man Utd crush Forest to close in on League Cup final

MARCUS Rashford scored a dazzling solo goal as Manchester United beat Nottingham Forest 3-0 in the first leg of their League Cup semi-final on Wednesday to virtually book a place at Wembley next month. Rory McIlroy regains World No. 1 ranking with CJ Cup win

RORY McIlroy held on for a one-stroke victory in the US PGA Tour CJ Cup on Sunday to return to the top of the world rankings for the ninth time in his career. McIlroy defended the CJ Cup title he claimed last year in Las Vegas. He and Kitayama, seeking a first US PGA Tour title, were tied at 16-under after birdies at the par-five 12th. Midterm budget review: Shiimi a 'desperate man'

MINISTER of finance Iipumbu Shiimi will table the 2022/23 midterm budget review in parliament this afternoon. When he tabled the main budget in February this year, Shiimi said it was youth-focused. Corruption allegations levelled against ministry officials often relate to mining exploration licences. The Namibian understands that one of the key beneficiaries from that N$50 million deal is building a mansion in Windhoek. The law does not prohibit relatives of ministry officials from holding interests in mineral licences or in companies holding mineral licences. Orange River then sold the licence to Xingfeng for N$50 million after its first transaction with another entity did not materialise. Alweendo said he will also introduce a whistleblower box at the ministry to allow the public to report corrupt or unethical officials.
