Mr Anderson – voted Conservative MPs’ favourite backbencher – has frequently questioned how many people have genuine need of such support. The Ashfield MP claimed she was an example of someone earning less than £30,000 but did not need to use a food bank. People who use food banks ‘cannot cook properly’Mr Anderson’s feelings on food banks first made headlines last May, when he invited fellow MPs to visit a food bank in his constituency to witness a “brilliant scheme” – whereby those in receipt of food parcels are forced to “register for a budgeting and cooking course”. That would be my solution.”Rival parties compared the idea to “forced labour camps,” accusing Mr Anderson of “entrenching division”.
