Germany signals it hasn't ruled out sending Leopard tanks to Ukraine

Ukraine's government has made repeated calls for its international backers to send more heavy weapons including battle tanks to fight Russia. In recent days, Western defense officials have been pressing Germany to allow the export of its sophisticated Leopard 2 tanks to Ukraine. But Germany has so far not agreed to release its heavy battle tanks, and it has prevented other countries from delivering Leopard tanks that they purchased from Germany. Last week, Polish President Andrzej Duda said his country would transfer Leopard 2 tanks to Ukraine and Finnish President Sauli Niinistö also indicated her country was prepared to supply Kyiv with the tanks. Scholz has repeatedly refused to give the go-ahead for his country or others to export Leopard tanks to Ukraine, saying Western tanks should only be supplied to Kyiv if there is agreement among key allies.

Statins vs. supplements: New study finds one is 'vastly superior' to cut cholesterol

Millions of Americans are prescribed statins such as Lipitor, Crestor or generic formulations to lower their cholesterol. Researchers at the Cleveland Clinic set out to answer this question by comparing statins to supplements in a clinical trial. Typically, if a person's LDL cholesterol (bad cholesterol) is 190 or higher, they're often advised to start a statin. And it's worth noting that the NIH review concludes that omega-3 supplements may help relieve symptoms of rheumatoid arthritis. The NIH review also concludes that omega-3 supplements can lower triglycerides, a type of fat found in the blood.

Ukraine still fears another Chernobyl-size disaster at Europe's largest nuclear plant

CHERNOBYL, Ukraine — Sophia Arkadiyivna remembers when the Soviet Union built the Chernobyl Nuclear Power Plant in 1977, just 20 miles from the village where she served as mayor. For months, the International Atomic Energy Agency has warned of another potential nuclear disaster brewing in southern Ukraine, at the Zaporizhzhia Nuclear Power Plant, which Russia has occupied since March. "Moscow developed nuclear energy above all to control everything — to keep it close and protected from possible conflict," says Oleksandr Sukhodolia, a Ukrainian energy policy expert. Having survived the month-long occupation, though, they can hardly imagine the stress that people working at the Zaporizhzhia nuclear power plant are under. With the Zaporizhzhia nuclear power plant now disconnected from the Ukrainian grid, Ukraine loses a substantial proportion of its power generation.
