Incidents of a fire breaking out have been increasing continuously and the fire department has been taking steps to prevent this. Uttar Pradesh 's Gautam Buddha Nagar has an abundance of open market shops along with high-rise buildings, schools, malls, bars and industrial areas. Even a small spark in any building of the area can lead to a major fire. The fire department prepared a list of all those people who either do not have a No Objection Certificate ( NOC ) or have a shortage of fire fighting equipment in their premises. After this initiative, people have been actively engaged in fixing all shortcomings related to fire safety.According to data from last year, 550 people in Gautam Buddha Nagar lacked fire fighting arrangements in their shops, restaurants , malls, bars, schools, etc., or did not have Fire NOC issued by the fire department of the state.Along with this, notices have been issued to about 300 high-rise societies.Out of these 300 societies, 250 have sent back reports of proper fire fighting arrangements in their premises to the department. The Chief Fire Officer (CFO) of Gautam Buddha Nagar, Pradeep Kumar, in a conversation with IANS termed the area as a sensitive district. He said that stations had been set up at different places to make arrangements regarding fire safety. He added that there was no scope for negligence as the district is the "show window" of UP.He said that notices had been sent to more than 800 people to get the fire NOC and address the related inadequacies and the people have been doing it.Kumar said that public awareness campaigns would be organised in schools, marketplaces malls and public spaces in Noida and Greater Noida to enable the people to protect themselves in such cases and to prepare them to be alert. He added that his team conducted surprise checks to get an assessment of such shortcomings. He apprised that he had suggested to the headquarters to implement a law that ensures action against people who submit false affidavits to the department of meeting all the necessary requirements. He said that many times it had been seen that people installed faulty and cheap fire fighting equipment in their buildings to fool the department.Kumar added that if fines were imposed on such people, they would maintain the equipment efficiently which would lead to a decrease in fire incidents.

London: Over 60% of UK residents do not see tourism as an attractive industry to work in, says report released at WTM London, Hospitality News, ET HospitalityWorld

In the survey conducted by World Travel Market London and released at the ongoing World Travel Mart, London—among 2,000 respondents across the UK, only 29 percent of the respondents approved the travel and tourism industry as an attractive career industry, while more than 60 percent said ‘no’ to the question about their perception of travel and tourism industry as an attractive industry to work in.The results of the survey amplifies the current dearth of skill shortage the global tourism industry is facing in its path of revival and recovery. Travel and Tourism industry has been the worst impacted industry in the world in the two years of closure of borders and restrictions on international travel due to the Covid 19 pandemic. There has been a recruitment crisis since the industry reopened earlier this year after being put on hold during Covid, when many people were either made redundant or decided to leave. Since then, companies have struggled to find people to fill job vacancies right across the sector, including in travel agencies, hotels, airports and airlines. At the beginning of September, ABTA — The Travel Association of Britain, addressed the issue, with a push to highlight the advantages of a career in travel, using social media to communicate with prospective staff and bringing “an increased focus on training to support people who are new to the sector and who quickly need to become familiar with all things travel”.ABTA Chief Executive Mark Tanzer said at the time: “ABTA is keenly aware that our members, as well as many other sections of the travel industry, are facing serious challenges in a highly competitive recruitment market.”He described travel as: “One of the most rewarding and enjoyable of industries”, adding that people entering the sector can “build successful long-lasting careers”.Reacting to the report, Juliette Losardo , Executive Director, WTM London , said: “There was a time when working in travel and tourism was thought of as a very glamorous and exciting career path. Sadly, the impacts of Covid have had an impact but travel remains an inspiring, fun industry, as well as being of vital importance”.Incredible India under the Ministry of Tourism, Government of India and around 8 state tourism boards are participating and showcasing their products and services at the ongoing WTM London. These include Kerala, Madhya Pradesh, Odisha, Maharashtra, Rajasthan, Tamil Nadu, Mizoram, and Puducherry.Besides tourism boards, Services Export Promotion Board (SEPC) and many DMCs from India are actively participating in the London show which is the first physical exhibition after the reopening of the international borders.
