So how is Twitter Blue take up looking? According to analysis by Travis Brown, as of right now, there are between 275k and 325k Twitter Blue subscribers. Taking the top-end of that estimate, we’ll assume that Twitter is generating around $2.6 million per month from Twitter Blue subscriptions as of right now (325,000x$8). Of course, Twitter Blue still has a lot of room to grow – it’s currently only available in the US, UK, Canada, Australia, New Zealand and Japan. In April last year, former Twitter CEO Jack Dorsey said that Elon was ‘the singular solution’ that he trusts to right the ship, and get Twitter back on the right track.

New Report Finds that Facebook and TikTok are Approving Ads Containing Political Misinformation

In order to test the ad approval processes for each platform, the researchers submitted 20 ads each, via dummy accounts, to YouTube, Facebook and TikTok. Two of their three dummy accounts remain active on Facebook, while TikTok hasn’t removed any of their profiles (note: none of the ads were never launched). Facebook, of course, has been the key platform for information distribution in the past, and the main focus of previous investigations into political misinformation campaigns. In response to the findings, Meta posted this statement:“These reports were based on a very small sample of ads, and are not representative given the number of political ads we review daily across the world. Our ads review process has several layers of analysis and detection, both before and after an ad goes live.

Pinterest Reports Increasing Usage and Revenue in Latest Performance Update

Pinterest has posted its latest performance update, showing increases in both users and revenue, neither in a major swing, in broader terms, but both, most importantly, pointing upwards once again. First off, on users – Pinterest added 12 million more users in the quarter, taking it back up to 445 million monthly actives, which is exactly where it was at this time last year. As you can see, Pinterest saw the most growth in the ‘Rest of World’ category, though it also added 3 million users in both the US and Europe as well. Pinterest credits its rising usage to increased video engagement, with video content supply in the app increasing 3x YoY. That would also open up new revenue pathways – and on that front, Pinterest brought in $685 million in Q3, up 8% YoY.

Meta Outlines Key Areas of Focus, and Business Opportunity, Following Downbeat Earnings Report

In the accompanying earnings call, Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg outlined the company’s four key areas of focus moving forward. Which, in turn, may mean that it’s not a competitive advantage for Meta either. And with that, Meta’s looking to tap into the resulting growth in messaging as a potential revenue opportunity. I remain unconvinced that users are super keen to message with businesses, but there may be new ways for Meta to tap into this shift. When you see those trends shift, you’ll need to pay attention - but till that happens, it’s largely academic.

Hey, have you noticed that your tweets are getting a lot less reach and engagement of late? Nobody knows, and Twitter itself is at pains trying to work out what’s what at present. Spent last two days at Twitter in SF talking to engineers, product managers and yes, @elonmusk. Will that harm Twitter engagement long-term? That could result in users tweeting less and less, or maybe, Twitter will get things back on track soon.

Meta Reports Increasing Costs, Lower Ad Revenue in Q3 Performance Update

Facebook’s monthly active user counts reflect a similar story, with almost all of the growth coming outside of its top revenue markets. Meta’s apps are still hugely popular. Those concerns are further exacerbated when examining Meta’s revenue numbers. Because Meta’s apps, while still hugely popular, and still, as noted, seeing overall growth in overall users, are also themselves experiencing a downturn in key areas. The key consideration here is younger audiences, which Meta has conceded are not using its apps like they once were.

Musk Cuts Staff, De-Lists Twitter from the Stock Exchange on Day 1 as Chief

But Musk, of course, has an alternative view on what Twitter should be, so they were unlikely to ever see eye-to-eye anyway. Those cuts began on Friday afternoon, and it’s unclear how many of Twitter’s 7,500 employees will ultimately be impacted. Musk’s second key order of business, however, following those initial exec cuts, was to take Twitter private. X is buying out all of Twitter’s stock and will control the service, and Mr. Musk will control the holding company. But some staff are already being let go, and Musk could reinstate any user at any time.
