Beginning in October of last year, tens of thousands of jobs in the tech sector across the Bay Area have announced mass layoffs. While massive losses in the tech industry, as well as in retail and merchant wholesalers, have dwindled dramatically, overall, California saw gains. California added 16,200 jobs in December, which was the fifteenth consecutive month of job growth in the state. California always has a lot of jobs that either require a college degree or give a lot of ‘points’ to candidates with them.

On Thursday, Tesla CEO and multi-billionaire Elon Musk completed his $44 billion acquisition of the San Francisco-based social media site Twitter, ousting the CEO and other top executives shortly after the deal was done. This included making the company private due to much of the $44 billion going to buying out all stock in Twitter. He also fired Twitter CEO Parag Agrawal, who had been CEO since November 2021, as well as CFO Ned Segal and Chief Legal Counsel Vijaya Gadde. I mean, he might move out of San Francisco and to another city in Silicon Valley, but there will be a presence out here for sure.

We know that California is pushing to become the first state to ban natural gas heaters, water heaters, and furnaces by 2030, a policy of the California Air Resources Board, entirely made up of appointees by the governor. Now the federal government wants to ban gas stoves. “We need to be talking about regulating gas stoves, whether that’s drastically improving emissions or banning gas stoves entirely,” Richard Trumka, a commissioner at the US consumer product safety commission said, according to the Chicago Tribune. “The start of a federal process that could lead to more regulation of gas stoves is ‘a big step’ said U.S. PIRG environment campaigns director Matt Casale,” the Tribune reported. But none of these studies seem legitimate, because once again, the government is targeting the lowest hanging fruit – the consumer and individuals – rather than the industry which uses commercial natural gas stoves professionally.

LA City Council Votes To Officially Censure Council Members Martinez, de Leon, Cedillo

The Los Angeles City Council voted unanimously on Wednesday to censure former Council President Nury Martinez and Councilmen Gil Cedillo and Kevin de Leon for their part in the LA City Council racist remark scandal. Protests have also been constant against both de Leon and Cedillo, with protestors even appearing outside de Leon’s house non-stop for the past several weeks. Compounding matters is a still angry public, who have demanded that no more City Council meetings should be held until the two are off the Council. After that, Council members discussed if censure, an option that had not been placed on Council members since last century, was warranted. This is not who the City Council is.
