The Portland Trail Blazers may have blown a 25-point lead to the Los Angeles Lakers on Sunday night, but the bigger storyline in this contest was the budding feud between guards Damian Lillard and Patrick Beverley. It got to the point where referees stopped play and issued a technical foul to Beverley, who continued to talk to Lillard as he walked away. He also mocked Lillard’s patented “Dame Time” celebration as it was clear the Lakers were about to win the game. When a certain reporter asked Beverley a question post-game about his performance and mentioned Lillard had a “slow shooting night,” the Lakers guard took exception to it, which would eventually cause some social media drama. ‘Ticket to Paradise’ review: George Clooney and Julia Roberts get some mileage out of their rom-com pairing

Giving it much more thought than that won’t help this rom-com vehicle for George Clooney and Julia Roberts, although the “com” part proves a trifle deficient in a movie that’s significantly better when it’s sweet than salty. Anaheim voters will change makeup of council, fill empty mayor’s seat – Orange County Register

Instead of an election where a successful sitting mayor seeks a second term – which is what Orange County political observers were expecting for Anaheim’s Nov. 8 election – four candidates are running for an open seat to represent the city’s 350,000 residents. And, if District 4 Councilman Avelino Valencia is successful in his California Assembly bid, the council could have even another new member by early next year. Ballots have been sent to all registered voters in Anaheim, and anyone eligible who isn’t registered has until Oct. 24 to sign up. All candidates answered a questionnaire from the Register for its voter guide and most described their priorities on campaign websites. G7 condemns Russia’s kidnapping of Ukraine power plant leadership

The Group of Seven (G7) on Saturday condemned Russia’s kidnappings of Ukrainian employees at the Zaporizhzhia Nuclear Power Plant (ZNPP), the latest sign of international concern about the embattled facility. “These actions further impair the nuclear safety and security of the ZNPP by preventing key personnel from executing their indispensable functions,” the G7 Non-Proliferation Directors Group wrote in a statement. The group in its statement condemned the annexations and reiterated the countries’ positions that the land grab is null and void. “This is important, but cavemen only understand the language of power,” Andriy Yermak, the head of Ukraine’s presidential office, said of the G7 statement on his Telegram channel. Beyond the expected flooding from such an explosion, Ukrainian officials have also raised concerns about Zaporizhzhia’s reliance on a reservoir created by the dam for cooling the nuclear plant.
