Gabriel Jesus out of World CupGabriel Jesus is set to miss the rest of the World Cup after sustaining a knee injury, according to reports. The Arsenal forward was forced to come off during Brazil's 1-0 defeat to Cameroon in the final game of the World Cup group stages after suffering with pain in his right knee. Assuming the reports are accurate this would see Jesus miss the Gunners first competitive game back against West Ham on Boxing Day at the Emirates Stadium. His fine form in front of goal has seen Arsenal and Liverpool linked, but the Gunners have been handed a huge blow.

The Portuguese superstar will be absent this afternoon as Chelsea host Manchester United in the Premier League. Potter opted to rest several key figures at the Gtech Community Stadium, all are expected to return to the starting XI for the visit of United. That extra midfield body didn't work as planned as United won the midfield battle with ease as Spurs' trio all struggled. Although Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg and Rodrigo Bentancur did also struggle in Manchester, Conte will keep faith with his trusted midfield two given the need to bounce back right away.

Graham Potter's challenge in replicating the quality of Reece James is a steep task for any coach to navigate. On Wednesday night, Potter opted to deploy Ruben Loftus-Cheek in the right wing-back role against Brentford in a 3-4-2-1 formation. It is understandable when approaching Saturday's clash with Manchester United, Potter would lean in the direction of Loftus-Cheek given the speed of Marcus Rashford on the left of United's attack. Potter does not have that luxury, meaning that Loftus-Cheek does not have the same defensive security in the wing-back role that James has offered him before. He will be hoping whoever he puts in that role, can offer enough sticking plaster in the short-term before James is fully recovered.
