The goal is to halve U.S. greenhouse gas emissions by 2030 (relative to 2005 levels) and ultimately reach “net zero” emissions by 2050. Nearly 80% of Americans’ total energy needs are met by coal, oil, and natural gas—the very energy resources targeted by Biden’s executive orders. The “net zero” climate policy unleashed by Biden’s two executive orders isn’t possible or desirable. The same wrongheaded perspective created Europe’s catastrophic dependency on Russian energy and energy infrastructure. Queue up, for example, the Securities and Exchange Commission’s infamous proposed rule on disclosing greenhouse gas emissions.
The 20th Congress of the Chinese Communist Party wrapped up its weeklong, twice-a-decade meeting over the weekend with Chinese President Xi Jinping securing his third five-year term. [Chinese President] Xi Jinping was given a third five-year term, which wasn’t really surprising to anyone. It was on “Fox News Sunday.” He said that Xi has become the most powerful Chinese dictator since Mao. I would say he’s definitely the most powerful Chinese leader that we’ve seen since Mao. Forty years of this engagement did not stop who China, really, or not China, but who the CCP really is.3 months ago The Daily Signal
More local measures show an even greater range in price increases, from 5.7% in metropolitan San Francisco to 13% in metropolitan Phoenix. Nationally, housing costs seem to be growing at moderate rates, obscuring that housing costs are growing quickly in some areas and slowly in others as Americans reshuffle where they live. Housing costs grew by 17.1% in Phoenix, by 12.8% in Atlanta, and by 13.5% in Miami. Meanwhile, housing costs rose by only 3.5% in San Francisco, 4.9% in New York City, and 5.6% in metropolitan Washington. Sure enough, six of the seven metropolitan areas in the South are six of the seven metro areas with the highest inflation.3 months ago The Daily Signal
With a spread like that, it might lead one to wonder: what exactly is an election denier? So, one comment that the election was stolen, and you are an “election denier.” And CBS, again to their credit, confirmed that on-air. Interestingly, if that “in the 2020 election” goes away, the list of culprits changes dramatically. Applying the CBS criteria to elections other than 2020, all of them, every single one, is an election denier. Which, of course, is most of what this entire “election denier” mania is all about: finding yet another way to undermine Republican candidates for public office.2 months ago The Daily Signal
So, The Guardian published an entire article about what a pregnancy looks like—all without showing a single picture of the developing baby. Our goal is to counter misinformation with facts about what pregnancy tissue looks like in an early abortion or miscarriage. Those doctors claim to show what an early pregnancy looks like, but subtly concede that they’re only addressing “pregnancy tissue” in the last sentence. Instead, they only address one aspect of pregnancy, the gestational sac. She goes so far as to claim, “This image shows the gestational sac of a nine-week pregnancy.3 months ago The Daily Signal
The Hungarian government stands for national sovereignty and conservative values among the world’s nations. In a Heritage Foundation event on Monday, “Promoting Conservative Values in Modern Europe,” Hungarian Justice Minister Judit Varga offered a timely perspective on protecting and representing conservative values in modern politics and the future of European conservatism. According to Varga, the left-wing trend that dominates the European Union infringes on member nations’ sovereignty. The consistent presentation of conservative values; and 3.) Sovereignty and conservative values are compatible with the democratic state governed by the rule of law.3 months ago The Daily Signal
FIRST ON THE DAILY SIGNAL: The U.S. Department of Energy appears to have parted ways with Sam Brinton, the nonbinary Biden administration nuclear official who is facing charges for allegedly stealing two pieces of luggage at two separate airports. “Sam Brinton is no longer a DOE employee,” a Department of Energy spokesperson told The Daily Signal in an email Monday afternoon. “By law, the Department of Energy cannot comment further on personnel matters.”The spokesperson did not respond to a follow-up email by press time. The department did not clarify whether Brinton had resigned or been fired. “As an appointed official, Sam Brinton represents both your Department and the United States,” Rep. Andrew Clyde, R-Ga. and other House Republicans wrote in a Dec. 6 letter.1 month ago The Daily Signal
This is likely because Democrats (and Biden himself) have repeatedly advocated for legislation like the Women’s Health Protection Act, a bill that would codify Roe v. Wade and massively expand abortions in the United States. As fundamental rights are at risk at the Supreme Court, Senate Republicans have blocked passage of the Women’s Health Protection Act. CBS polling conducted in May shows that only 17% of Americans think abortion should be legal at any point during the mother’s pregnancy. A similar May 2022 Pew Research poll found that only 19% of Americans think abortion should be legal in all cases, and an August 2022 Rasmussen poll found that only 13% of likely California voters think abortion should be legal at any point. The majority of Americans actually support restrictions on abortion: according to a May 2022 Gallup survey, 63% of Americans think abortion should be illegal or only legal under certain circumstances.3 months ago The Daily Signal
